Xylitol – Beneficial or Dangerous?
Xylitol, a sugar alcohol found in grains, corn, mushrooms, and fruits, has become the latest (fab) choice of sweetener sold in health-food stores.
Because it is being promoted as beneficial to dental health due to it’s anti-bacterial activity, recommended to diabetics, those affected by the Candida Albicans, and even pregnant women, one wrongly assumes that Xylitol must be a great food product.
But just because a substance seems to originate from fruit and veggies, doesn’t mean that it’s good for you.
It turns out that regular consumption of Xylitol in form of chewing gum, tooth paste, mints, cake mix, sweetener, etc. can lead to everything from gas to tumor growths, liver- and brain damage.
The bottom line is that if you really want to consume stuff that’s good for you, eat fresh, organic, sustainable produce, meat and fish, and drink clean water.
If you need a sweetener that has no side effects, use raw organic agave nectar (cactus juice).
Note:
I only recommend foods I know, like, and consume with enthusiasm.
Good Health!
