He doesn’t want them having sex. In the gay world he is an old mummy so he doesn’t stand a chance of getting any, and if he tries and it comes out he would lose everything. So if he can’t, others, especially those lower in hierarchy, can’t either.
On top of that, free thinking/acting people are usually against war and the injuring and killing of innocents (‘unintended casualties’), which makes them more difficult to handle.
And finally proper patriarchal order depends on proper hierarchical order. Submission must be exercised toward superiors (like this guy) and not toward equals (solders of the same or lower rank).
Even in ancient Greece where homosexuality was institutionalized, relationships could only be approved of if they consisted of an older, ‘superior’ ‘teacher’ and initiator (the ‘man’) and a younger, ‘inferior’ student/slave/servant follower (the ‘woman’).
