The earliest idea of heterosexual monogamy and primitive marriage coincides with the clitoral castration ritual being done in preparation for womanhood.
The castrated girls would become feminine, dignified and modest, and were taught to assume their new roles as skillful wives, controlling their emotions and getting a husband and children in return for their stoic endurance of lifelong suffering.
